Teaching

Susan teaches poetry in workshops that are usually six weeks in duration, and gives individual poetry consultations, from her home in Arlington, Massachusetts.
Since Spring 2020 her workshops have been conducted on Zoom.  Her spring 2021 class is for five weeks, beginning on April 27.  This class has openings, as of 4/7/21.  Susan’s students have marketed and published chapbooks and full length books of poetry, established a website, won several poetry awards, and given readings as a group called Class Act. Their poems have appeared in The Massachusetts Review, Poetry, The Beloit Poetry Journal, Atlanta Review, Nimrod, Sojourner and Prairie Schooner, among other journals.
Tuition for classes is $185 for the six week class, $160. for the five week class.
Individual poetry consultations are available throughout the year.   Students have worked with Susan on manuscript development, editing of individual poems and poem sequences, marketing, poem selections for MFA and other applications, planning a reading, and writing blocks.
Consultation rate is $60 an hour with a two-hour minimum; the project’s aims and scope are mutually determined beforehand.  Most consultations include a meeting, but some have been done entirely by mail and phone.
